EMS and Non- Emergency Transportation is the backbone of healthcare access and deserves a seat at any table where healthcare policy and legislation will be the focus.  We must educate our legislators about our role and how we fit into the rapidly changing healthcare environment.  They must understand the challenges we face on a daily basis in providing our services before we will be able to convince them to take action on our behalf.  Likewise, it is important to educate the public about our role in their healthcare access and the emergency response system.

The Virginia Ambulance Association is dedicated to supporting those who answer the call, advocating for the EMS and Non- Emergency agencies in Virginia at every level. As a Virginia EMS agency or an individual within, you can benefit from membership in the VAA in a number of ways:

• The VAA offers a unified voice to EMS and Non-Emergency agencies across the state. 
• We actively monitor legislation that affects EMS emergency responders and non-emergency providers so that we might recognize potential opportunities to improve the EMS system or to avoid negative impacts from legislative acts.
• VAA members can share information such as training opportunities and discuss topics specific to our profession.
• There are opportunities for networking and building relationships that strengthen agencies and the system as a whole.
• The VAA can assist with PR campaigns that increase awareness of our industry.
• An association unified in representation of the industry can participate in planning groups and committees at the local, state and national levels.
• There exists the potential for group purchasing and discounts on supplies and equipment.

Our current recruitment campaign is focused on increasing awareness of the VAA and what it can do for EMS agencies and non-emergency transportation providers across the Commonwealth.  The larger our membership, the greater the strength of our voice and the more opportunities we will have to affect positive change on our industry.  As such, we are currently seeking new members with a requirement of just a $250 annual membership fee.  If your agency is interested in joining and supporting the efforts of the VAA, please find the membership application listed below.  You can mail the application and membership fee to the address listed on the application form.  If you have questions about membership, please send your questions to membership@virginiaambulance.org.
